CHAPTER 1.

The (4) four arithmetic operations of basic math using whole numbers are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

In this chapter, we will discuss in written and/or pictorial detail, the Base-10 Math System specifically designed for multiplication, which I personally believe is the main arithmetic operation of basic math.

The Base-10 Math System for multiplication that we will study and learn in this chapter, was developed and prepared for the math student using the Base-10 Math System for the very first time.

In this beginning phase of the Base-10 Math for multiplication, the math student will be shown (5) five specific Base-10 Math methods and/or short cuts to solve any given multiplication problem. The math student will also be given numerous multiplication examples, problems and mathematical facts related to each of the (5) five methods.

It should be noted, that the math student will study and learn (5) five specific Base-10 Multiplication methods and/or short cuts in both the beginning and advanced phase of this chapter. However, the math student has to decide eventually, which of the Base-10 Math multiplication methods to learn and apply, in order to improve his or her multiplication accuracy and speed.

In this beginning phase of Base-10 multiplication, the math student will also be required to study and learn how to obtain partial products, and the actual product for each for each of the given multiplication problems. Because, with the Base-10 Math System partial products are always necessary to determine the actual product for each of the given problems.

The math student should know the multiplication table from (1) through (10). However, before the math student begins to use the Base-10 Math System for multiplication, it would be advisable once again to review the multiplication table from (1) through (10). Furthermore, during the review of this particular Base-10 Math multiplication table, the math student will also learn (5) five very important mathematical facts for multiplication; and this specific math data will definitely improve the student's overall understanding and use of the Base-10 Math System for multiplication.
